Numerology calculator

Your birth name and date of birth, turned into the six core numbers of a numerology reading, with the working shown and the meaning of each.

11, 22 and 33 are the master numbers: the only totals numerologists leave unreduced.

As on your birth certificate, including middle names.

Numbers are calculated on your device. Your birth date and full name never leave it.

What goes into a numerology reading

Western numerology, usually called Pythagorean, gives every letter a value from 1 to 9 (A=1, B=2 … I=9, then J=1 again) and treats your birth date as a sum of digits. Each total is reduced by adding its digits until one digit is left, with one exception: 11, 22 and 33 are kept as master numbers.

From two inputs you get a small chart. The life path comes from the date and is read as the main theme of your life. The expression uses every letter of your name, the soul urge only the vowels, and the personality only the consonants: roughly what you can do, what you want, and how you come across.

Questions people ask

How does a numerology calculator work?

It turns your birth date and the letters of your name into numbers, adds them up and reduces the total to a single digit (or a master number 11, 22 or 33). Each core number is then matched to its traditional meaning. The arithmetic is fixed, so the same inputs always give the same reading.

Which name should I use?

Most numerologists, following the Pythagorean method popularised in the 20th century, use your full birth name exactly as it appears on your birth certificate for the core numbers. The name you use every day can be calculated separately; it is often read as the energy you project now.

What are the core numbers?

The usual set is life path (from the full birth date), expression or destiny (all letters of the name), soul urge or heart’s desire (vowels), personality (consonants) and birthday (day of the month). Many readings add the maturity number, which is life path plus expression.

Is numerology scientifically proven?

No. There is no scientific evidence that numbers influence personality or events. Numerology is a symbolic tradition, loosely traced back to Pythagoras and developed in its modern form in the early 1900s. Many people find it a useful prompt for reflection, which is how we recommend using it.

Is my data saved?

Every calculation runs in your browser, and your full name and birth date are never sent to a server. If you ask for a personal written reading, only the resulting numbers, your first name and your chosen focus are sent to write it. You can choose to remember your inputs or save readings on this device (browser local storage) and clear them at any time.

How is the personal reading written?

The numbers are always calculated with fixed numerology rules. If you ask for it, an AI model then writes a short reading that connects your numbers, guided by traditional meanings. It is for reflection and entertainment, and the full meaning of each number is on the page even without it.
