The compatibility chart

Every pairing of 1 to 9 at a glance. Rows and columns are life path numbers; master numbers use their root (11 → 2, 22 → 4, 33 → 6).

  • ● Natural match: same temperament group or a classic pairing
  • ◐ Complementary: different styles that fill each other’s gaps
  • ○ Growth pairing: a clear difference in needs to talk through

The three temperament groups come from popular 20th-century numerology: 1, 5, 7 (independent, questioning), 2, 4, 8 (practical, security-minded) and 3, 6, 9 (expressive, caring).

Questions people ask

How does numerology compatibility work?

The simplest method compares two life path numbers, calculated from each person’s birth date. Numbers are grouped by temperament (1, 5, 7; 2, 4, 8; 3, 6, 9), and each pair is read for where the two styles support or rub against each other. Fuller readings also compare expression and soul urge numbers.

What life path numbers are most compatible?

By the traditional grouping, numbers in the same group are natural matches: 1, 5 and 7 value independence; 2, 4 and 8 value security and structure; 3, 6 and 9 value expression and care. Complementary pairs from different groups, like 1 and 2, can be just as strong.

Does a "growth pairing" mean we are incompatible?

No. It means the tradition sees a clear difference in needs (freedom versus roots, say) that the relationship will need to talk about. Plenty of couples find those are exactly the conversations that make them stronger.

How are master numbers handled?

For compatibility, 11, 22 and 33 are compared by their root (2, 4 and 6), with the master-number intensity noted on top.
